Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site
2995 Lincoln Farm Rd., Hodgenville, KY 42748

LaRue County has within its borders two very important sites related to the life of Abraham Lincoln: his birthplace on the Sinking Spring Farm three miles south of Hodgenville on US 31E, and his Boyhood Home on Knob Creek , approximately seven miles northeast of Hodgenville along US 31E. Both of these are part of the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site.

Abraham Lincoln was born on the Sinking Spring Farm on February 12, 1809. When he was just over two years of age, the family moved to a nearby farm along Knob Creek, and it is this farm that stirred Lincoln 's earliest memories, relating as an adult "my earliest recollection, however, is of the Knob Creek place..."

2975 Lincoln Farm Road, Hodgenville, KY 42748

Adjacent to the Sinking Spring Farm is the Nancy Lincoln Inn, a privately-owned gift shop and museum that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The inn and four nearby cabins were constructed of chestnut logs and red heart pine in 1928. Until World War II, meals were served at the inn, and the cabins were rented to overnight guests. In 2005, owners Carl and Sharon Howell, Jr. restored the cabins to their original historic appearance, and they are once again available for overnight rental. The cabins are air-conditioned, but in keeping with their historic character, do not have indoor plumbing. However, full sanitary facilities are close by in a modern bathhouse. For information, contact the Nancy Lincoln Inn at (270) 358-3845.

Today, it remains a fixture on the Hodgenville town square, and is a popular photo-op with residents and visitors alike.
